Hello! My name is Mithuna, and I am the founder and owner of Peak Mood Therapy. I started this brand with one goal in mind: to help individuals navigate life’s everyday struggles. My mission is to enrich people’s lives with laughter, happiness, and practical skills to support their mental health journey. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques that are proven to make a positive impact.
I chose the name Peak Mood Therapy because I am determined to help you achieve your peak mood and reach optimal levels of satisfaction and happiness in everything you do. While life doesn’t always go perfectly, I am committed to doing my best to support you in feeling your absolute best.
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I am also a Registered Clinical Counsellor here in British Columbia. My passion lies in helping people manage challenges such as grief, anxiety, PTSD, depression, trauma, and more. Along with providing therapy, I’m dedicated to being your advocate, helping you build skills to tackle everyday tasks and overcome obstacles.
I was born and raised in BC, and I’ve chosen to stay here because of its beauty and the lifestyle it offers. Outside of my professional life, I avidly love dogs, hiking, surfing, and snowboarding!
As a person of colour with Sri Lankan heritage, I offer a unique perspective that enriches my approach to therapy. I treat every individual’s challenges with a personal, ethical approach, ensuring that each client feels respected and understood. I am also a proud LGBTQ+ ally and work with clients from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
I offer flexible therapy options, including in-person, online, and phone sessions, Monday through Friday, and select weekend hours to best accommodate your schedule. Together, we’ll process your experiences and find practical, respectful ways to navigate life’s challenges.
